President John Mahama has reduced the number of
ministries from 30 to 23. In an executive instrument signed by the President,
23 ministries of the civil service have been established.
This is a significant move aimed at streamlining
government operations and enhancing efficiency and as part of efforts of the
President and the NDC to fulfil the 60 ministers' cap, promise.
Finally, this decision is part of his broader strategy
to create a leaner and more effective government structure.
And per the below executive instrument, the Ministries of Information, National Security, Parliamentary Affairs, Railway development, Sanitation & Water resources and Public Enterprises have been scrapped.
It is worth noting that, the Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs ministry has been merged with the Local government ministry.
President Mahama has also created a new ministry for Youth Development and Empowerment.
