Brief Profile of the Ghana Education Service

The Ghana Education Service (GES) was founded in 1974 by NRCD 247 and then revised by NRCD 252, 357, and SMCD 63 as a component of the Public Service of Ghana. These former laws have been modified by Acts of Parliament, particularly Act 506 (1994) and Act 778, under Ghana's fourth Republican Constitution (2008). The GES Council, which consists of fifteen members, is in charge of running the GES.

To guarantee that all Ghanaian children of school-going age, regardless of tribe, gender, disability, religious, or political affiliations, are provided with inclusive and equitable quality formal education, GES is responsible for implementing approved national pre-tertiary educational policies and programmes.
