About Daystar University

Daystar University is a Christ-centered, non-denominational university with a mission to develop servant leaders in the church and the world. Originally established in 1964 as Daystar Publications in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, the school relocated to Kenya in 1971, changing its name to Daystar Communications and becoming a nonprofit in 1973. It has since offered a five-week programme via the International Institute for Christian Communication (IICC). Daystar Communications' Christian Communications Diploma study began in 1976 and is followed by a Master of Arts in Communications degree study that also lasts for two years. In 1978, Wheaton College in Illinois, USA, and the university developed a degree course in Christian Communication and Christian Ministries.

Daystar changed its name to Daystar University College in April 1984 when it began offering a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in conjunction with Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania, USA. The Government of Kenya officially chartered Daystar as Daystar University on September 29, 1994. Since then, in light of growing public demand, Daystar has expanded its curriculum, research, and outreach activities.
