In the wake of the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to ban the Baba Yara Stadium from hosting international matches, Ghana's Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to explore alternative venues.

The Minister has directed the GFA to request CAF to inspect the Legon Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium as potential hosts for upcoming international games, including the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

The Legon Stadium, recently renovated for the 2023 African Games, has already hosted various athletic competitions and football matches, making it a suitable alternative.

Meanwhile, the Accra Sports Stadium has also demonstrated its capabilities by hosting Category 2 games featuring Ghanaian teams in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.

By requesting CAF to inspect these stadiums, the Sports Ministry aims to ensure Ghana's continued participation in international football competitions, despite the current unavailability of the Baba Yara Stadium.

This proactive approach demonstrates the government's commitment to addressing the issue and finding suitable solutions to maintain Ghana's reputation as a reliable host for international football events.
