About Sunyani Technical University (STU)

The Sunyani Technical University (STU), formerly known as Sunyani Polytechnic, is a public postsecondary school. Near Asufufu, it is situated northeast of the Bono Region of Ghana.

STU was founded in 1967 as a Technical Institute by the Ghana Education Service as a non-tertiary school. The Ghanaian government later converted it to a polytechnic in 1997 so that it could provide Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes. Under the conditions set out by the Polytechnic Councils, the Polytechnics in Ghana are required under the Polytechnics Act of 2007 to administer and confer Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificates, Diplomas, and other higher degrees.
