Ghana's inflation surges to 54.1%, for December, 2022. |
The Ghana Statistical Service estimates
a 54.1 percent inflation rate for December 2022.
As a result, the overall price level in
December 2022 was 54.1% more than it had been at the same time in 2021.
Food inflation surpassed the 55.3%
figure for November 2022 to reach the highest inflation rate for December 2022
at 59.7%.
Locally produced goods saw an inflation
rate of 51.1%, compared to 61.9% for imported goods.
At a news briefing on Wednesday,
Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, the government statistician, also revealed that,
year over year, water consumption increased by nearly 94%, followed by fruit
and vegetable juice consumption, which peaked at 84.6%.
The area with the greatest inflation,
at 66.7%, was the Greater Accra Region, while the region with the lowest
inflation, at 35.6%, was the Bono Region.
