The Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana (FDA) is notifying the general public of the product recall of Agricola Tre Vali sausage products, namely, AIA Wudy and Pavo brands by Italian Authorities.

This is a result of the presence of Listeria bacteria in the sausages made from poultry. The public institution made this known via a statement sighted by GhanaNews.hrforum.uk.

The FDA indicated that, two botches of the food product had their expiration date due, citing November 30, 2022. They also cited one of the products namely, Pavo Frankfurt sausages with expiry date, November 2022, were seen in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, which has subsequently been detained and to be safely discarded.

“The attention of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has been drawn to the recall of Agricola Tre Vali sausage products, namely, AIA Wudy and Pavo brands, by the Italian authorities due to the presence of Listeria bacteria in the sausages made from poultry meat.

“Two (2) botches with codes 1785417 and 01810919 with expiration date November 30, 2022, are implicated. Considering the recall activities ongoing in Euro, and other countries, the FDA has also conducted a market surveillance activity and Pavo Frankfurt sausages with expiry date November 2022 were found in Ho in the Volta Region. The products have since been detained for safe disposal.”

The regulatory body subsequently confirmed that, no AIA Wudy sausages have been found on the Ghanaian market. All are encouraged to immediately hand over any of the sausage products should they be in possession of them, to FDA head or regional offices across the country.

“So far, no AIA Wudy sausages have been found on our market. The FDA directs that anyone in possession of the above-mentioned products should immediately take them to either our Head Office or Regional Offices across the country.

“The FDA wishes to assure the public that its surveillance teams continue monitor the markets for any of the above-mentioned products.”
