President Akufo-Addo, has presented 1,500 motorbikes to the Ghana Police Service. He did the presentation on Monday, 15th August, 2022, in a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, monitored by GHANA News ONLINE.

According to the President, the presentation was done in line with the government’s commitment in ensuring that, the Police service was provided with the required logistics to effectively combat crime.

“On Monday, 15th August 2022, I presented 1,500 motorbikes to the Police Service. It is yet a further affirmation of the commitment of the Akufo-Addo government to provide the Police Service with the necessary logistics it requires, to help the Service continue to effect its mandate of maintaining law and order, and protecting lives and property.”

He further assured the Police Administration of the acquisition of additional motorbikes, which will see government increase the number of motorbikes presented to 5,000 by the end of next year.

“I assure the Police Administration that this is just the beginning. More and more motorbikes will come in soon, to help ensure that every single community in the country benefits from the enhanced community policing model.

“Government will increase the number of motorbikes presented by Government to five thousand (5,000) by the end of next year.”

President Akufo-Addo, subsequently charged the IGP to ensure that, no community is left out as far as the distribution of the motorbikes are concerned. This is to enhance the community policing model currently being practiced by the service. He finally, asked that, officers take care of the motorbikes; ensuring their safety and the safety of road users on the road.

“I urged the IGP to help ensure that no community is left out in the distribution of these bikes, even as the Police Service prioritises the areas that are most critical.

“I entreat officers who will use these bikes to take good care of them but, more importantly, to pay particular attention to their safety and the safety of other road users while on the road.”
