Coach Otto Addo names 23-man squad for Angola–Niger tests. |
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has announced a
23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers
against Angola and Niger, scheduled for early September.
The team, which last gathered in June for the 2026
FIFA World Cup qualifiers, will begin preparations on September 2, ahead of
their matches on September 5 in Kumasi and September 10 in Berkane.
The squad features a familiar core group of players,
with key figures like Thomas Partey, Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence
Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku all retaining their places.
Additionally, Kingsley Schindler, Inaki Williams, and
Majeed Ashimeru return to the team after missing the previous games, while
Frederick Asare of Asante Kotoko is the sole home-based player included.
Notably, Captain Andre Ayew and Daniel Amartey have
been omitted from the squad, having missed the last two games against Mali and
the Central African Republic.
The Black Stars will kick off their 2025 AFCON
qualifying campaign against Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Stadium,
followed by a match against Niger in Berkane four days later.
With a mix of experienced players and returning
talent, Coach Addo's squad appears well-equipped to tackle the upcoming
challenges.
