At the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Stonebwoy, a
reggae dancehall artist,
took home the top prize of the evening: Artiste of the Year.
After he first won the prize in 2015, this is his second. The 'Into the
Future' singer competed for the most coveted prize for the year under review
with Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, and Nacee.
Stonebwoy's accomplishments during the year under
review are noteworthy, as he won five more TGMA awards.
The superstar's first studio album in three years, 5th
Dimension, was just published.
The most awarded artist of the evening was the reggae/dancehall musician, who
took home the prizes for Album/EP of the Year, International Collaboration of
the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Reggae Dancehall musician of the Year.
Stonebwoy declared that he would go on a tour with the
trophy while accepting it and thanking the Bhim fans.
Stonebwoy stated he was at a loss for words as he
celebrated the happy occasion on stage with his wife, Dr. Louisa Setakla, and
other family members.
“I just want to
say thanks to the most high God. Thank you mama wherever you
are, thank you for showering your blessings upon your son. I wrote a long
speech but I am lost for words,” the musician said.
In addition, Stonebwoy commended the other artist in
the category for fighting hard and expressed gratitude to his supporters for
their unwavering support.
But before leaving the stage, Stonebwoy pleaded with
Charterhouse, the event's organisers, to reveal the 2019 Ghana Music Awards
winner. After a brawl broke out between him and Shatta Wale, the announcement
was postponed and ultimately cancelled, resulting in a year-long ban for both
of them.
