There are 105 national high schools in Kenya that are recognised as being among the best. And this article highlights them.

In Kenya, national schools are always granted the opportunity of selecting students based on their performance in the KCPE exams. Up until 2011, when the then-minister of education Sam Ongeri suggested building more than 30 new national schools to address the form one admission problem, there were just 18 national high schools in Kenya.

In an effort to strengthen social cohesion and national unity, the administration upgraded more than 30 provincial schools to national rank in 2013. The Ministry of Education increased the club of national schools by over 27 institutions in 2014, bringing the total number of national high schools in Kenya to 105. 

The promotion of high standards of excellence and the construction of new facilities to accommodate the nation's steadily growing student population were the other two key causes of the surge. The 105 national high schools are listed below:
