Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United if club receives a satisfactory offer this summer, according to football transfer journalist, Fabrizio Romano. Goal can also confirm that.

Twelve years after leaving for Real Madrid, the Portuguese superstar made a return to Old Trafford in August of last year.

Although Ronaldo had a good season in terms of goal scoring, with 24 goals in 38 games across all competitions, this output is a long cry from the absurd standards that he often sets for himself.

And it is his ambition to play in the Uefa Champions that has inspired his decision to urge Manchester United to let him leave should they get a 'satisfactory offer' this summer, as reported by The Times.

Ronaldo has participated in the Champions League for the last 19 seasons in a row and has scored 140 goals for Real Madrid in 183 games played in the tournament.

The attacker who once played for Juventus 'believes he has three or four years remaining at the best level' and wants to spend those years playing for a team that can match his level of desire.

He "no longer sees his future at Old Trafford." following the club's tumultuous 2021/22 season, which saw the firing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the hiring of Ralf Rangnick, and then, the scrapping of plans for Rangnick to become a consultant in Manchester.

Ronaldo's contract will be up for renewal the following summer, and Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been said to be interested in making a bid for him during the summer transfer window.

Unless Robert Lewandowski decides to leave Bayern, the German club is not likely to make an offer since Barcelona is highly interested in signing the Polish striker.

Last month, representatives for Cristiano Ronaldo met with Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, which sparked rumours of a stunning transfer to the west London club.

There has also been talk of a possible return to Serie A. Although Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, has surfaced as a possible destination for Ronaldo, the club will not be able to provide him with Champions League play in the 22/23 season.

After some time had passed, the trustworthy journalist David Ornstein verified the report. Ornstein said in an article he wrote for The Athletic that Napoli are one among the clubs 'interested' in signing the player who once played for Sporting Lisbon.

Bayern "have been briefed about his position," while Paris Saint-Germain are out of the race for the player in question.
