Black Sheriff |
The Chief Executive Officer of Waynes Chavis
Consult, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, has filed a lawsuit against Mohammed Ismail
Sharif, better known in showbiz as Black Sherif, the hottest Ghanaian performer
right now.
This lawsuit stems from allegations that Black
Sherif ignored his investor after he invested in his career.
Black Sherif was said to have inked a distribution
agreement with Empire Music without his investor's permission, despite the fact
that he allegedly had a business management contract with him. According to the
deal, Black Sherif must handle all of his business via the investor who came on
board to assist the artiste.
The plaintiff, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, is seeking
the court to restrict Black Sherif from performing at events without his
authorization, according to a writ of summons obtained by ghananews.hrforum.uk on
April 11th, 2022.
"An order of injunction to stop the
Defendant/Respondent, his agents, assigns, workers and colleagues from
performing at events or entering into arrangements to play at events or
otherwise exploit his music and image without recourse to the Plaintiff,"
he also asks the court.
Agyei Owusu is also seeking an injunction that any
profits earned through Black Sherif's internet streaming be preserved.
Shadrach also wants a receiver appointed to
collect the profits of any cash generated by the defendant's activity.
This comes at a time when Black Sherif's current
song, "Kwaku the Traveller," is at the top of the worldwide charts,
making him Ghana's most sought-after musician in recent years.
