The Fiapre Circuit Court in the Bono Region sentenced two
suspected armed robbers, Sameed Issa and Ivor Constance Kwahie, to 12 years in
prison on October 15, 2021.
On Monday, October 11, the two offenders were apprehended via
a police-public cooperation after robbing their victim at gunpoint of three (3)
iPhones, a wristwatch, a vehicle key, and GH 350.00.
In a similar incident, unknown persons reportedly abducted
Tahidu Adam, 38, from Dakpen in the Northern Region on Thursday, October 14.
Community members eventually rescued the victim, leading to
the arrest of two suspects – Inusah Abdulai and Amadu Ahmed – by the police.
They were found with one locally manufactured pistol and five live AAA
cartridges.
“The Police Administration wishes to express profound
gratitude to the leaders and people of the two communities- Fiapre and Dakpen
for their active participation in crime-fighting in their communities.
We
also commend the two Regional Police Commanders and their personnel for
deepening Police-community partnership in ensuring that peace and security are
maintained in their jurisdictions”.
Effective policing requires a strong police-community
relationship. As a result, we encourage other communities to join with the
police in putting a stop to illegal activity so that communities may be safer
and more peaceful.
